Josef Salvat

As far as opening acts go, they don’t come any finer than the debut singles from rising pop virtuoso Josef Salvat. Arriving unannounced at the beginning of the year with single “This Life” followed by “Hustler”, we’re now set to hear a little more from the newcomer, with two new tracks “Every Night” and “Till I Found You”,┬ábeing released as a double A-side via imprint Fingers and Thumbs on December 9th.

Fader premiered “Every Night” noting the artist is “singing about his love life, of course, but his words also feel like a pretty good metaphor for his singing style, which toes the line between mournful soul-bearing and an entertainer’s sleight-of-hand and in a manner that just feels somewhat precocious for an artist who just started releasing music.”

While Salvat now resides in London, he has previously drifted between homeland Australia and his heartland city of Barcelona, Spain. It’s from this spell of wandering that the material on this upcoming double A-side release was crafted. As The Guardian so aptly observed, Josef Salvat creates ‘intriguing, intelligent, tantalizingly twisted stuff”, and his thrilling personal narratives continue to unravel with this release making Salvat one of the most compelling pop voices to have emerged this year.

Salvat will be making his North American debut next year, already announced for SXSW. More dates will also be announced in the coming months.
