Doss Releases New Track, “Here Tonight” | Debut EP Out Next Week on Acéphale

Earlier this month, emerging producer Doss revealed “The Way I Feel”, the first song off her forthcoming Acéphale debut, a self-titled EP that is bold, unique and imaginative.  In a fantastic writeup, Pitchfork called the song “a debut single that captures the very specific image of a benevolent machine trying to understand human connection.” Yours Truly went on to describe the track as “light as a feather, deep like an ocean”, while The Line Of Best Fit noted it “produces a summertime euphoria that could see it as the stand out electronic production of the season.”

With the EP coming out next week, Doss unveiled a new track this morning, titled “Here Tonight.” This track sees the young producer further continuing to explore the electronic soundscape and the result is another standout pop gem.

White Hinterland Premieres Video On VEVO; Currently On North American Tour

White Hinterland has just premiered the video for her song “Baby” on VEVO, the title-track from her acclaimed new album, out now on Dead Oceans. “Baby” is a haunting, yet beautiful video which was directed by Anna Rose Holmer and shot in Casey’s hometown in southeastern Massachusetts. Casey notes, “I was drawn to Anna’s treatment because she puts a lot of heart into her work, and ‘Baby’ feels like the most raw and delicate of all the songs on the album … whatever we did had to be especially personal. I wanted us to shoot it in my hometown because I think it’s beautiful here. It feels like a visual love letter to the Scituate that I grew up in.”

Watch the video for “Baby” here

Holmer goes on to say, “The treatment for the video started with an exploration of weakness as inner demon. I wanted the lyrics of the song to serve as a voiceover of sorts for a more narrative-driven video. My background is in film, so I tend to approach storytelling through that vocabulary.”

Casey recently set out on a US tour in support of her Rolling Stone and Pitchfork-approved new album, Baby, continuing to impress audiences with her incredible live performance. After wrapping up her run of North American dates, Casey will play a string of UK shows this May. Full tour schedule is below.

Barnett premiered an acoustic cover of a song by The Lemonheads on Interview Magazine recently, who noted, “Everyone from Bob Dylan and Lou Reed to contemporaries like Cat Power and Deerhunter come to mind when listening to her work. Doss Releases New Track | Announces Self-Titled Debut EP, Out 4/29 on Acéphale

On April 29th, producer and singer Doss will release her debut on Acéphale, a self-titled, four track EP that introduces listeners to a world of curved, shining surfaces and strobing colors.  Doss wholeheartedly takes inspiration from the various forms of dance music that emerged in the early 90s while sidestepping any notion of revivalism.  She projects “Electronica,” and the cultural baggage that comes with it, into the contemporary landscape, moulding and adapting it to sound simultaneously nostalgic and futuristic.  The music is bold, emotional and unabashedly pop, bursting with color and imagination. But beyond the sheen there is a complex fragility reminding us that glossy fantasies are just as interesting for their subtext.

Visitors can currently register for the site by entering their email in exchange for a download of the first song from the EP, “The Way I Feel.”  In the coming weeks and months, users will gain further access to the site as more and more of Doss’ world unfolds.

White Hinterland Releases New Album Today, Sets Out On North American Tour

White Hinterland has released her stunning new album Baby today, via Dead Oceans. Already capturing the attention of Pitchfork, SPIN, Stereogum and WNYC, Rolling Stone has praised the record, noting “Dienel’s considerable vocal skills hold it all together: She’s got a Mary Poppins-size bag of tricks, singing in operatic quivers, howling yelps, haunting harmonic layers and even full-on vocal fry without showing any seams.”

This impressive third offering from talented artist and producer Casey Dienel, was recently spotlighted by WNYC, who raves, “White Hinterland doubles down on the experimental electronic flourishes, and fizzy, dance-ready hooks. Yet at the heart, as always, is Dienel’s passionate, haunting voice, be it as a capella art pop … or immersed in a sea of gorgeous neo-soul harmonies.” Stereogum goes on to say, “White Hinterland’s new album Baby is poised to display her transformation from a more introverted singer performing over drones and glitchy beats to her own best producer soaring over bombastic experimental R&B.”

White Hinterland is currently on a North American tour in support of the record. See a full list of dates below.

Fresh from supporting both Angel Olsen and Real Estate, as well as blazing a trail through most of America, including a show-stopping stint at SXSW, Glasgow two-piece Honeyblood are proud to announce their new single “Killer Bangs.” Maybe the most urgent, punk-driven cut from their upcoming debut LP, it’s two minutes thirty four seconds of frantic clatter and head-rush hooks that impacts with an instant, effortless sense of abandon.

Honeyblood’s self-titled record has a new release date of July 15th and will be released via FatCat. Recorded at legendary producer Peter Katis’ Tarquin Studios (The National, Interpol) in ten days last November, Honeyblood is an accomplished and delightfully fierce record.
