to.be Merges Art and Technology To Create a Progressive New Creative Platform

to.be

“collage the internet”

to.be is a new creative platform that merges art and technology into a unique experience described by FADER Magazine as existing “midway between a curatorial platform and an artistic medium unto itself.”  It is a space to collage the internet.

to.be’s expressive, young community of creators is what sets it apart. From classically trained painters to the bedroom pop Soundcloud generation, users are taking the same tools and yielding remarkable results. The intention has been to build an artistic platform that anyone can use, yet one that speaks a very contemporary language. And a very personal language too – freed from any aesthetic imposition or automated process, users can make it theirs, quickly developing a very intimate and unique visual language, as one of a kind as each of the users is.

The to.be print shop is a noteworthy way to take these digital pieces from URL to IRL, allowing everyone to turn these digital pieces into one-of-a-kind physical objects. For musicians, this means an opportunity to avoid bulk purchasing merchandise in favor of direct engagement with their fans, as Yacht did last month, when it offered all the artwork of their new single through to.be for their fans to create new works with and print it out in a myriad of shirts.

White Hinterland Premieres New Track “Baby” on Stereogum

White Hinterland has premiered her infectious new song “Baby” on Stereogum today, the title track from Dienel’s forthcoming album, which is due out April 1 on Dead Oceans. Of the track, Stereogum notes, “Dienel’s voice and beats here are tougher than before while her experimentation during the recording of the album shines through with dissonant, angular distortion cutting through smooth bass lines. The recurring mantra of  “is this my weakness,” flows with the music so well that it almost sounds like a boast.”

Refinery29 recently shared the video for the first single off the record, “Ring The Bell,” praising Dienel for the track’s lush sound full of synths and cymbals, raving, “It stands on its own in a genre unique to Dienel. She’s got the eccentric look of iamamiwhoami, the pop of Oh Land, and the powerhouse vocals of Duffy.”
